Isla de Lobos (Wolves Island): Eight kilometers from the coast. More than 200,000 sea lions coexist there. It also has a lighthouse that was built in 1906.
Faro Area (Lighthouse Area): Calle 10, Plaza del Faro. The most historic site of the resort, with the first summer residences with architectural styles from the beginning of the last century. The Punta del Este Lighthouse has been in service since 1860.
What to do in summer?
Every year, Punta del Este welcomes more than 350,000 tourists of different nationalities in the summer, with Argentinians and Brazilians being the most representative foreign visitors to the destination.
The Beaches:
One of the main reasons why Punta del Este is known is for its beaches.
The peninsula divides the beaches into two. The west coast, called La Mansa (the tame one), extends from stop 1 to stop 24. Its calm waters and fine sand make it a very good option for families and children. It is also an ideal spot to watch the sunset.
The east coast, known as La Brava (the wild one), has intense waves and allows for water sports. These beaches are separated by the Lighthouse, an iconic symbol that illuminates the Atlantic Ocean.
The summer season in Punta del Este is characterized by a full schedule of shows for all tastes. From a wide variety of parties and intimate events to sunsets, concerts, and festivals.
